Allied Technology established its information security practice in 1994. In 1994, recognition of security as a critical need was beginning to grow, but security funding was still low. To address client requirements, we developed innovative approaches to institute improved security while constraining costs. As our practice grew, we focused on establishing client/ATG partnerships that ensured legal and regulatory compliance for our clients while maximizing the use of limited resources. Among out success stories are:
- Establishing the NASA Incident Response Capability (NASIRT) as a premier computer incident response capability;
- Instituting security analysis practices as part of the Department of Education Investment Analysis process;
- Establishing the first incident response capability for the Department of Veterans Affairs;
- Improving FISMA compliance for the NRC such that its annual evaluations improved from an F to an A in three years;
- Developing a secure, Internet-based nuclear facility incident reporting capability for the NRC;
- Conducting CIO FISMA compliance reviews and OIG FISMA compliance reviews;
- Developing FISMA-compliant information assurance programs for civilian agencies; and
- Completing Certification and Assessment reviews for a number of federal agencies, both military and civilian.
